About Me

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and on the Register (ref 037757) approved by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care.

I have a BACP accredited diploma in Integrative Therapeutic Counselling (2009-11) from the Mary Ward Centre in London and have studied Psychoanalytic Psychology at Birkbeck College, University of London.(2008-10).

My approach is integrative, drawing on different theoretical approaches (e.g. psychodynamic, humanistic, creative) to suit different clients and situations.  While I find psychological theory useful as a structure for thinking about people's experiences, I believe that each person is unique and has a unique story to tell.  As such I work by taking the lead from you about what is important and building a relationship based on respect, warmth and empathy.

I have experience of working in NHS referred agency services, as a psychological assessor via telephone and chatroom and as a clinical manager for an employee assistance provider, and in private practice with a wide variety of issues such as those listed here.

I adhere to the ethical framework of the BACP and I have regular supervision of my client work with an experienced supervisor.

I have done a variety of things in life other than be a counsellor/therapist and I would say this life experience is as valuable as the qualifications and therapeutic experience listed above.  I aim to use the whole of my experience as a person to help you.
